Does a single-face mechanical seal for a reaction kettle require lubrication?
It is necessary; for mechanical seals, it is required to do so
I think so too; mechanical seals all require cooling and lubrication. The seal itself has self-lubricating properties when the preload is appropriate, but cooling is needed to extend its operating time.

Since the mechanical seals of reactor agitators mostly do not come into contact with liquid media, double-end face mechanical seals are commonly used. If a single-end face mechanical seal is employed, then lubrication using a sealing fluid through flushing or immersion is required. Recently, dry gas seals have been used for reactor sealing, allowing for the elimination of the need for a sealing fluid.
Single-face mechanical seals probably don’t require lubricating oil. For the enamel-lined reaction kettle equipment I use, water jackets are usually added; a single-face mechanical seal actually has an oil film on its surface, so no other lubrication devices are necessary. Maybe the need for 204B
Lubrication is essential; dry grinding of the mechanical seal can have an adverse effect on it, so lubricant should be added regularly
