It was Father’s Day yesterday. How is your relationship with your father now? If it weren’t for the 360 notification when the device starts up, I would have completely forgotten this date! So I quickly picked up my phone and called my father. The phone connection with my father was slow. During our casual conversation, I learned that he had just returned from applying pesticides to his fields and was now cleaning himself. A somewhat awkward greeting wishing my father a happy holiday on this Western-imported festival; his reply was once again his honest, hearty smile from the countryside. I’m really getting old. As someone who is far away, all I can do is urge my father to take care of his health, not to overwork himself, to cook something delicious for himself, or to go out to a restaurant. I love my father because he gave me his entire life.

Dad is only 65 years old; high blood pressure has caused a cerebral thrombosis, and he’s developing some symptoms of dementia； I went home to see him on Father’s Day; he could hardly remember that I was not his younger brother and treated me as one. However, he did remember that he had been paying insurance for his grandson for ten years, and this year was the last year for those payments. Tears welled up in my eyes again.

I grew up in the countryside; now I’m approaching my thirties, yet I’ve never expressed my love for my father in words. Although my father didn’t receive much education, I think he understands well the ways of dealing with people. Although I am thousands of miles away, I always make time to go home whenever I can, even if it’s just for two or three days. Parents always say that if you don’t have time, don’t keep coming to home all the time. But I know better that they miss me more than they miss home. They are even more eager for me to come home and visit. My relationship with my father is, I think, more like that of friends, close friends. May they all be healthy! !
