How is feeding carried out when a tower starts operating? For example, if a tower has a processing capacity of 2000 KG/h, then how much material should be fed into it at the beginning of operation? I know that the loading on the tower is increased step by step; what I want to know is what happens in the first step. I also want to know how much material is usually stored in the bottom of the tower, in terms of volume or time – only one stream of material exits from the bottom of the tower via a pump. This amount is directly related to the output capacity of the pump, and is it also related to the volume of the reboiler? What is the relationship?

Determine it through the instrument. Generally, feeding is stopped when it reaches 50%, the heating source is turned on, and then the temperature is raised gradually.
For the commissioning of a typical tower, cold oil is first circulated to establish the normal operating sequence; the feed and discharge pumps should operate properly. The product is sent to the reject stream, while the liquid level at the bottom of the tower is maintained at a normal level (50%) or at a higher level, as a higher level facilitates the startup of the reboiler. Once all instruments and control valves are functioning properly, heat is supplied to the reboiler. After there is liquid in the reflux tank at the top of the tower, the reflux pump is started.
