Recently, a problem has been bothering me: for ordinary atmospheric-pressure containers or heat exchange equipment, a manufacturing process needs to be developed for each unit. Such processes are already quite mature and there is little room for improvement. Moreover, the production staff do not even check these manufacturing processes during production. I wonder if there exists a universal manufacturing process that can be applied to all stages of manufacturing for such conventional atmospheric-pressure equipment, one that could be used consistently.

General manufacturing processes cannot replace specialized ones. General manufacturing processes provide guidance for process engineers, inspectors, and manufacturers; it is up to these professionals to decide which path to take, how far to move in each step, and how many steps to take. Each process parameter needs to be quantified, with the values obtained through reference to standards or calculations. This relates to the issue of quality assurance mechanisms. Skilled workers can indeed build equipment using just a set of drawings, but quality cannot be guaranteed entirely, which brings up the question of defining quality responsibilities.
Yes, but what I mean is simple equipment – the kind of equipment that is commonly used by various units. For each manufacturing process, it would be good to establish standard tolerances. What do you think of that?
