Factory alarms are considered instruments that require mandatory external inspection, and there is no doubt about this. On this basis, we used to conduct internal inspections of these instruments twice a year, but these inspections were largely a formality (involving simple tests followed by the filling out of maintenance records). Let’s briefly discuss the methods we used for testing in the past, namely the internal inspection process: for toxic gas detectors—specifically those for chlorine—we used a small bottle containing liquid chlorine; we walked around with these detectors, and if they triggered an alarm, it meant the device was qualified. For flammability detectors – methanol – just pass it over a lighter without a striker; if an alarm is triggered, it means the test is successful. Fill in the debugging records and reports, and sign for process confirmation. What are the engineers’ views on the process of debugging and calibrating alarms in factories? Is it necessary to purchase standard gas? Is there a requirement for a calibration cycle, or is it just sufficient to perform adjustments before driving?
