In the PID diagram for the gasoline hydrorefining plant, the pipeline code is 40 - ADM - 206001 - 2.5A5 - ST; it refers to the pipeline from the low-pressure separator (V-201) to the boundary zone. In the pipeline specification sheet, the details are as follows: Pipeline number, Name of fluid, Flow rate, Starting and ending points, Nominal diameter, Pipeline grade code, Operating conditions, Design conditions, Test pressure, Insulation requirements. For ADW - 206001, it involves acidic water, flowing from V-201 to the boundary zone; the nominal diameter is 40, the pipeline grade is 4.0A4, the operating temperature is 40℃, the pressure is 1.60MPa, and there are no specific insulation requirements indicated. I have two questions: 1. Do the values 2.5A5 (in the PID diagram) and 4.0A4 (in the pipeline specification sheet) both refer to the pipeline grade? If so, why are they different? 2. What exactly does the pipeline grade format of 2.5A5 mean? It’s different from the uniformly specified formats such as L1B
1. One of them must be wrong; ask the designer. 2. Check the material specification sheet and the first page of the schematic diagram for this project; if needed, ask the designers for them.
Well, first of all, I suspect that you might have used the wrong PID pipeline number. Additionally, the pressure rating standards vary from one institution to another. The construction drawings specifications are merely suggestions and references; they are not mandatory rules – it’s not required to follow them exactly. As for the specific meaning of the pipeline ratings, etc., you should refer to the regulations specified in the main drawing

Even just looking at it, you can tell there are problems. How on earth did it get designed in the first place? With a tight project deadline, mistakes are likely to occur; people tend to think about making changes at the end, only to forget about it by then.
L1B is the notation used in 20519, while 2.5A5 is the notation specified in Part 2 on piping fittings of the \"Design Manual for the Installation of Process Piping in Petrochemical Plants\"; the fifth edition can be found on page P1106 – those interested may wish to take a look.
