There are three types: full compensation, under-compensation, and over-compensation. Over-compensation is generally used, even when the inductive current of the arc-suppression coil is greater than the capacitive current of the line. With full compensation, when the three-phase to ground capacitances are asymmetric, it may cause line resonance, resulting in a very high neutral point voltage. Insufficient compensation: when a phase trips or the line operates with an incomplete number of phases, the partial capacitance of one or two phases with respect to ground decreases, which can cause the capacitive current to equal the inductive current and result in severe neutral point displacement.
