Our plant is involved in a 500,000-ton synthetic ammonia project, and the Cassali low-pressure synthesis technology is used there. Currently, we have detected a leak in the synthesis reactor; the amount of leakage is small enough to allow the plant to continue operating. We plan to carry out repairs during the major overhaul. Are there any other units that have encountered this issue? Could you provide plans for process treatment, maintenance isolation, and leak detection? Thank you!

Internal leakage in a synthetic waste heat boiler is a serious issue; don’t think you can wait until maintenance time just because the amount of leakage is small. If the leakage suddenly worsens during that period and too much high-pressure gas enters the low-pressure side, it could lead to unimaginable consequences. It’s better to stop and carry out maintenance right away; it’s absolutely unacceptable to keep operating with hidden defects.
Leakages usually occur at the weld joints between the tubes and the tube sheet; during overhauls, some ammonia leakage tests can be conducted on the shell side.
