A tubular heating furnace is a type of direct heating device used primarily for heating liquid or gaseous chemical raw materials; the fuels used are usually fuel oil and fuel gas. The heat transfer mechanism in tubular heating furnaces is primarily radiation heat transfer. Tubular heating furnaces are used as process heating units in industries such as oil refining, petrochemicals, coal chemistry, tar processing, and crude oil transportation. The material to be heated flows inside the tubes; the medium involved can be gas or liquid, and these materials are often flammable and explosive. The operating conditions are stringent, and the furnaces operate continuously for long periods of time, with direct exposure to fire during the heating process. The flue gas temperature in a tubular heating furnace can be reduced to around 100°C, allowing partial condensation of the acidic water vapor contained in the flue gas. By recovering the low-temperature sensible heat from the flue gas, it is also possible to recover some of the latent heat of vaporization associated with the acidic water vapor, thereby further improving the thermal efficiency of the heating furnace and saving energy.
