For the body flanges of American standard valves, should the dimensional requirements be based on Table 8 – Flange Dimensions in ASME B16.5, or Table 9 – Flanged Fittings Dimensions? For a 3\" 150lb valve body flange, the thickness requirements specified in the two standards differ; what is the basis for making the selection?
We also produce butterfly valves that meet American standards; their dimensions are based on flange specifications. As mentioned in Table 8, the thickness of the flange there does not include the step portion

The reason is that the strength of the integral flange is the highest among all types of flanges; the integral casting process strengthens the flange, allowing the thickness of the flanged pipe fittings to be reduced.
This has nothing to do with Table No. Right? It doesn’t matter which one; the flanges should be selected according to Table 8
