My situation is a bit complicated. My company is in Shanghai, while my household registration is in Nanjing. I graduated with a master’s degree three years ago, and theoretically I should be eligible to obtain an intermediate professional title in either city. However, in Shanghai they won’t grant such a title without a residence permit; I only found out about this recently. Moreover, one needs to have held a residence permit for at least a year, and the application process for it is quite complicated. I don’t plan to stay in Shanghai for a long time. In Nanjing, they say that I need to pay social insurance there in order to get the title, and I only paid social insurance there for over a year when I first started working there. Experts, what should I do in a situation like this?
What’s the use of an intermediate professional title? There are no more retirement allowances for those with senior professional titles. When looking for a job or something, you can’t keep listing only junior-level titles; some certificates may not be useful, but not having them definitely causes inconvenience
You can go back to Nanjing and ask; since social insurance was paid there, it should be possible to obtain a professional title if you continue to pay the insurance there.
