Let’s discuss when it is necessary to issue equipment maintenance work orders. In our factory, every time a valve needs to be replaced, the production workshop has to issue an equipment maintenance work order; when an instrument technician needs to calibrate an instrument, the production workshop again has to issue such an order; and the same goes for electricians who need to maintain motors. As a result, our equipment managers are constantly busy issuing these work orders on site. Could everyone please share whether your factory requires the same thing? Are there any regulations in this regard? Sometimes it really seems unnecessary.

I’ve also encountered a situation involving hot work; it took place in an open area where there were no flammable materials around, nor any combustible gases. It is necessary; the purpose of issuing a work order is to prove that the maintenance work has been approved, that safety measures are in place, and that there is supervision over the work.
A maintenance work order is required. We even need to issue an invoice for replacing a pressure gauge here.

Implementing preventive measures is also extremely important. 3. Identifying the responsible parties. 4. The process of communication regarding work – if no tickets are issued, others won’t know that you’re working here, which could be problematic in case of an emergency. 5. Issuing a maintenance work order takes into account the need to implement safety measures; if there are no such measures that need to be put in place, then it is not necessary to issue a maintenance work order – a maintenance notice alone is sufficient. But who can guarantee that there are no safety measures that need to be implemented while a chemical plant is in operation? Therefore, it is highly necessary to issue a maintenance work order, carefully analyze the risk factors, and implement preventive measures.
It is necessary, but it should not be a mere formality; some tickets can also be issued by the shift teams, and the decision should be based on the level of safety risk.
