At present, China already has mature emergency response measures for natural disasters such as floods, but it lacks experience in dealing with sewage promptly after heavy rainfall and floods subside. Under the pressure of widespread flooding disasters in our country, the development of sewage treatment has received considerable attention. http://www.kb3001.com/Uploads/product/image/20160715/1468547652111917.jpg Three factors are contributing to the urgency of developing wastewater treatment; wastewater treatment refers to the process of purifying wastewater so that it meets the quality standards required for discharge into a certain body of water or for reuse. Wastewater treatment is widely used in various fields such as construction, agriculture, transportation, energy, petrochemicals, environmental protection, urban landscaping, healthcare, and the food service industry. In our country, the development of sewage treatment is driven by three factors. First, the per capita water resources in our country are declining year by year, and sewage treatment enables better recycling of these water resources. Second, due to abnormal weather conditions and the past practice of extensive management of rainfall and floods, the problem of urban waterlogging is severe in our country, which calls for reforms in the sewage treatment sector. Third, water pollution is a serious issue in our country; in 2014, water quality in the top ten river basins was classified as category IV to inferior category V, accounting for 30% – nearly one-third of the total. As water resources become increasingly scarce and problems such as urban flooding and water pollution worsen, it is urgent to develop the sewage treatment industry. Urban sewage treatment is improving, while rural and industrial sewage will become a focus. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the additional capacity for sewage treatment in cities across the country was 26.08 million cubic meters per day. Among them, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Heilongjiang saw the greatest increases in wastewater treatment capacity, reaching 2.325 million cubic meters per day, 1.732 million cubic meters per day, and 1.520 million cubic meters per day respectively. From 2009 to 2014, the rate of urban sewage treatment in China was 75.3%, 82.3%, 83.6%, 87.3%, 89.3%, and 90.2% respectively. In accordance with the requirements of the **New Urbanization Plan, by 2020 all counties and key towns across the country are to have the capability to collect and treat sewage, with the sewage treatment rates for counties and cities reaching around 85% and 95% respectively. With the **economic transformation and increasing attention paid to environmental protection issues, the urban sewage treatment industry is seeing steady progress. Compared with the municipal sewage treatment industry, industrial and rural sewage treatment in China are still in their infancy, and they will become key areas for pollution control in the future. With a market value of hundreds of billions of yuan, a turning point is emerging in investments in sewage treatment. It is predicted that over the next five years, the annual compound growth rate of sales revenue in the sewage treatment sector will be 20%; by 2020, the sales revenue from urban sewage treatment will reach 106.678 billion yuan. Industrial and rural sewage treatment sectors are also set to experience rapid development. “The implementation of the \"Ten Measures on Water Management\", the benefits associated with the development of sponge cities, **the high level of attention paid to water pollution, and increased supervision over local implementation are all key factors contributing to the continuous progress of wastewater treatment. The industry estimates that by 2020, approximately 4 to 5 trillion yuan will be required to achieve the goals set out in the \"Ten Water Policies\". The trillion-yuan water management initiative has begun, and the capital market is set to become active as a result. Operators of sewage treatment plants, third-party companies that handle industrial wastewater, and enterprises engaged in rural sewage treatment will benefit from increased investment. In the construction of sewage treatment plants, it is necessary to take into account China’s actual conditions and draw on advanced foreign technologies and experiences. The construction of such plants should follow several guiding principles: minimizing investment costs, reducing land use, achieving effective nitrogen removal, and integrating modern technologies.
This has little to do with the construction of sewage treatment plants. Many sewage treatment plants, especially those in towns, are not operating at full capacity due to inadequate pipeline installation. The problems that arise after floods are related to the treatment of polluted and dark-colored water bodies; wastewater treatment is just one aspect, a very small one at that.
