Today, while using the gas cylinder, there was a loud noise when the valve of the cylinder was opened, and gas flowed out; one could feel the airflow with their hand. Then we quickly turned off the valve. Later, another colleague encountered the same problem, and we were all terrified. Then I asked the supervisor to come and take a look; the same problem didn’t occur when he tried to tighten it. Now we don’t know what the cause is. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Could it be that too much force was used when tightening it? ? ?
No, the pressure in gas cylinders is usually quite high. There should be a pressure relief valve at the outlet. Without a pressure relief valve, the high flow speed causes friction, leading to rapid expansion and loud noises.
It’s likely that there’s a problem with the gas cylinder valve; it poses a significant risk, so don’t use it. Use it again only after the issue has been resolved...
But other colleagues have no problems opening it. . . So it seems we need to keep using it for now. . . .
There is a pressure relief valve on the outlet side, but it is closed; moreover, I can feel air flow coming from there
When the leader was turning it, he did it slowly; I, on the other hand, turned it with force right away – I’m not sure if that was the wrong way to do it. Moreover, the bottle valve is higher than my hand, so my hand cannot apply even pressure downward; as a result, the force applied might be uneven
