Dear experts, the poster has a design task that involves pressurizing atmospheric oxygen to 150 atmospheres, with a nominal flow rate of 10 L/min. This is to be achieved through 4 stages of compression, resulting in a miniature, high-pressure compressor. When a double-acting cylinder is used, intake and exhaust valves must be installed on the cylinder section on the piston rod side. Due to the very small cylinder diameter of 30 mm, there is almost no space for installing valves along the cylinder’s axis; therefore, I plan to drill holes in the outer wall of the cylinder and arrange the valves radially along it. The diameters of the commonly used ring-type and orifice valves are too large. Can high-performance straight-through check valves be used as the intake and exhaust valves? In that case, space for installation will be available. Or do any of the experts have other better solutions? I hope everyone can offer some guidance!
The design conditions for the inlet and exhaust valves as well as the check valves of the compressor differ too greatly; LZ must absolutely avoid doing this, otherwise the compressor will certainly not be able to operate properly, and there will be a high risk to safety. The intake and exhaust valves are the primary wear-prone components of a compressor, and they cannot be replaced with just any check valve. It is recommended to seek out a professional valve manufacturer who can design and supply these valves specifically for the operating conditions of that compressor.

We have used Holbig’s product and found it to be okay; we haven’t tried other brands, but you can give them a try.
