Secondary piston-type nitrogen compressor: The outlet pressure at the first stage suddenly increased to 2.1 MPa (the normal pressure is 1.7 MPa), causing the safety valve to activate. The inlet pressure of the compressor was 0.7 MPa, while the outlet pressure was 3.2 MPA, both of which are within normal ranges. No blockages were found in the pipelines, and the gas valves were functioning properly. Yet, when the compressor was restarted, the pressure remained high and the safety valve activated again. Could anyone help analyze what could be the cause?
There should be a blockage between the first and second levels
If the air valve is fine, then check the opening degree of each valve; if there is no such adjustment, then the air valve must be defective. Is there a temperature difference? There are areas with air leakage
There is a buffer tank and a cooler between stage 1 and stage 2; will the flow of nitrogen be suddenly blocked? It shouldn’t
The temperature is also normal; there is a control valve at the outlet of stage 2 that leads back to the inlet. The pressure at the compressor inlet is normal, so the control valve should be fine
The pressure of the air compressor generally depends on the back pressure. A normal secondary pressure indicates that the back pressure after the second stage is normal; a high primary pressure suggests that the back pressure after the first stage is high. The problem may lie in the valve seat after the first stage, the valve seat before the second stage, the cooler, or the buffer tank. Personal analysis, for reference only
In most cases, this is due to internal leakage in the air valve; check whether the temperature of the air valve is too high, as well as the conditions at the first-stage exhaust and second-stage inlet.

That makes sense; this afternoon I plan to remove the secondary intake valve and exhaust valve to check them
Check whether there is any blockage or pressure buildup between the first stage outlet and the second stage inlet; issues such as pipe blockages, cooler blockages, or insufficient opening of the second stage inlet valve can all cause this; On the air valve, it is mainly necessary to check the inlet and outlet valves of stage 2; there’s no need to check those of stage 1. The pressure in that section rises suddenly; I’m not sure how you go about checking this. My personal opinion: 1. Check whether there is any problem with the exhaust valve in that section (by observing whether the temperature readings are normal); 2. Check whether the two-stage intake valve is functioning properly (check whether the temperature indicators are normal) ; 3. Check whether there is any blockage in the pipeline from section 1 to section 2, and see if the valves can open and close properly ; 4. Check whether there is any blockage in the tube side of a section of the cooler; if conditions permit, open the cover of the cooler to examine the heat exchange efficiency in the tube side.
