Hello everyone. In one of the open tanks in the plant, for various reasons, it is only possible to install a single-flange level gauge on the pipeline at the bottom discharge outlet. My question is: can the single-flange gauge still provide an accurate reading of the liquid level when the pump is used to draw out the liquid? Logically, there shouldn’t be negative pressure when it’s open, right? Could liquid flow have any impact such as shock waves? As shown in the figure

In principle, it’s not possible. It can also be used if the flow rate inside the pipe is very low
This will certainly affect the measurement results. If one does not want to purchase a new gauge, an alternative is to change its installation location; if there is an unused ultrasonic sensor available, it can be installed on top of the tank as well (provided that the steam pressure is not too high)
This method of installation will not work; negative pressure is generated as the fluid flows, resulting in unstable and inaccurate measurements.
