I have a question for everyone: We have a powdered catalyst that is added to two organic liquids to facilitate a catalytic reaction. The reaction is carried out in a reactor: the reaction temperature is 280 degrees, the pressure is 5.0 MPa, and after 3.0 hours of reaction, the liquid product is removed from the reactor. The question is how to filter out the powdered catalyst? It also needs to be filtered while it’s hot. Is the filtration temperature 200 degrees? Since the catalyst is used once, it is not reused. So I would like to ask everyone: How is this filtration step carried out in industry? What filtering equipment should be used? Please let those who know share their thoughts.

To elaborate further: The material inside the reaction vessel is directly pumped into a vane filter. Outside the vanes lies the filter cake, while inside the vanes are the reaction products. When these products have not been filtered yet, they are sent back into the reaction vessel for recycling. Once all the catalyst has been removed and samples show satisfactory results, the resulting product is taken out for cooling and storage; After the reaction products have been completely removed, the connection between the reactor and the filter is severed. Once the pressure in the filter is reduced, its lid is opened to remove the filter cake; this cake then falls, due to gravity, through the pipes at the bottom of the filter into the container below, where it is packaged for further handling. If the filter is large enough, it can be filtered multiple times before the filter elements are removed; the area of the filter elements and the size of the filter should be determined based on the amount of catalyst used.
