Packing type for low-temperature methanol wash absorption tower

Dear sea friends, although it’s the same Luchi process, the absorption towers can be either packed towers or floating valve towers. What is the basis for making such a choice? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Fillers should be used wherever possible; their advantages include great operational flexibility, low height (which saves on equipment investment), and low pressure difference. However, in areas where the designers were not sure (such as the pre-washing section and desulfurization section), there were no previous examples of packed columns, so for safety reasons, traditional plate columns were used.
As far as I know, some manufacturers use floating valves in the desulfurization section of their absorption towers, while using packing in the decarburization section. Why is that? By how much can the pressure difference in a column using a filler be lower than that in a float valve column under the same processing load? What is the height difference?
The packing is prone to clogging compared to the floating valve, and there are some solid impurities in the gas from the desulfurization section. Therefore, as a precaution, float valves are generally used in the desulfurization section. As for things like the low pressure difference of the filler, I don’t have specific data either, so I can’t answer.
