Recently, our company’s floating-bed reactors (the anion and cation beds are floating-bed types, while the mixed-bed is a fixed-bed type) have been experiencing frequent problems. The specific issues are as follows: 1. Resin leakage; 2. Damage to the rubber lining inside the bed layer; 3. Damage to the resin trap at the outlet; 4. Severe corrosion of the filter caps inside the bed layer. I’d like to know what could cause so many problems to arise (The on-site conditions show that the pressure at the outlet of the centrifugal pump is generally around 5.5 kilograms. The general flow is as follows: the water exiting the centrifugal pump first passes through 12 sets of sand filters; the water coming out of these sand filters then goes into 12 sets of carbon filters. The water emerging from the carbon filters enters 5 sets of floating cation exchangers, and the water from those exchangers flows into an intermediate tank. From this tank, the water is pumped under pressure into 5 sets of floating anion exchangers, and the water from those exchangers goes into 5 sets of mixed-bed exchangers. For every 3 sets of sand filters and carbon filters, there is 1 set of cation exchangers, and for every set of cation, anion, and mixed-bed exchangers, there is 1 set corresponding to it.)
1. For the resin flow, the floating bed needs to be cleaned externally on a regular basis. Has this been done? If there are many intact resin balls flowing out, it is necessary to check whether the number of white balls in the floating bed has decreased, as well as whether there are any increases in gaps or even damage in the water at the top. In case of damage, replace it promptly. 2. The rubber lining is damaged; this must be repaired as it has a serious impact on both the quality of the water discharged and the resin. 3. The effluent resin catcher is damaged. This estimate is closely related to the amount of resin that was present earlier; try cleaning out the resin and then see if the catcher works properly. If it is indeed damaged, the relevant components can be replaced. 4. The filter cap is severely corroded. Is it made of PVC or stainless steel wire? Normally, corrosion should not occur; mechanical damage is more likely. Check the specific issue. Additionally: Check the pressure gauge on each exchange column; the pressure should not exceed 3 kilograms. If it does, it is necessary to investigate the related issues.
