Applied to coatings such as acrylic resin, epoxy resin, alkyd resin, and polyurethane resin, it can improve the dispersibility, physical properties, optical properties, and durability of these coatings, as well as enhance their scratch resistance. Specific applications of sucrose benzoate in coatings: 1. Methacrylate polymer/cellulose acetate butyrate/sucrose benzoate coating: US3477969 – 60-90% methacrylate polymer with side hydroxyl groups, side-chain nitrile groups, and side-carboxyl groups; 20-40% cellulose acetate butyrate; 2-10% sucrose benzoate; and 0-10% organic plasticizer. This coating possesses excellent water resistance and crack prevention properties. 2. Thermosetting powder coating (electrostatic spraying): US4248744: A: Acrylic polymer: a copolymer of 30% styrene, 30% isobutyl methacrylate, 25% butyl methacrylate, and 15% hydroxyethyl methacrylate. B: Closed-chain polyisocyanate ； C: Sucrose benzoate ； 5–15% is applied to metal surfaces to produce decorative and protective thermosetting acrylic polymer powders. This powder forms a protective and decorative outer coating on metal surfaces; for example, its use on car bodies via electrostatic spraying yields significant results. 3. Thermosetting acrylic paint containing cellulose acetate butyrate: US3637546: This new paint composition is particularly suitable for use on cars and trucks. The amount of sucrose benzoate used in this new coating composition is approximately 2–10% (based on the weight of the film-forming substances in the material). 4. Thermosetting acrylic polymer powder coating: US3846368: Sucrose benzoate is used as a plasticizer. 5. A thermosetting powder coating composed of acrylic polymers, dodecanedioic acid, cellulose acetate butyrate, and a crosslinking agent: US4027066: This powder coating composition is most suitable for the external decoration of automobile and truck bodies. Sucrose benzoate is used as a plasticizer. 6. Thermosetting acrylic paint modified with cellulose acetate butyrate (for thermal spraying): US3657001: Suitable for the automotive and truck manufacturing industries; the amount of sucrose benzoate used is approximately 2-10%. 7. Thermosetting acrylic coatings: US3674734: Sucrose benzoate is used in amounts of about 2–10% in new coating compositions, as a plasticizer, in the automotive industry. 8. Aerosol paint: US3536509: Components: Weight percentage (100%) – Propylene carbonate 52.91%, Ethyl acetate 15.73%, Cellulose acetate solvent 13.91%, Diphenyl chloride 4.54%, Cellulose butyrate acetate 2.18%, Sucrose benzoate 2.73%, Bronze powder (copper/zinc alloy) 8.00%; Sucrose benzoate is used as a brightener.
