Should welding procedure qualification be carried out within the company? What equipment is needed? As I understand it, it needs to be done at one’s own workplace, where welding test pieces are prepared, and then those specimens are subjected to tests such as tensile testing, bending testing, and impact testing. What equipment is used to carry out these tests? After that, are physical and chemical tests required on the sample to check whether the joint meets the requirements? Were the physical and chemical tests carried out in your own company? If I don’t have a physics and chemistry laboratory here, do I need to commission it from another institution? I hope to get answers from community members. Thank you!
In accordance with Clause 4.3 of NB/T 47014-2011, welding procedure qualification shall be carried out within the organization itself. For welding procedure qualification, all equipment and instruments must be in proper working condition, and weld test pieces shall be welded using the organization’s own equipment by welders with proficient operational skills within that organization. The main equipment required to complete the welding procedure qualification includes: test plate processing equipment, electrode ovens, electrode insulation containers, and welding machines. Sample tensile and bending tests are carried out on a material testing machine ; Impact testing is carried out on an impact testing machine. If this unit does not possess such testing equipment, it can commission a qualified physical and chemical testing laboratory to carry out the tests, but a technical commissioning agreement must be signed.
Tensile and bending tests: Universal testing machine; Impact: Drop hammer impact testers, etc ; Chemical composition: chemical analyzers, etc
For welding procedure qualification, it is necessary to test the physical and chemical properties of the welded joint, and this is something that manufacturing and installation units will handle
The welders in this unit use the welding machines available in this unit to weld test plates. . . All other processes can be outsourced. . .
