For the Shanghai Sensong 105m3 polymerization reactor, what is the reason why the seal water from the mixer has entered the oil circuit? The manufacturer suggested that it might be because the seal water was turned on before the oil pump, which caused the seal water to enter the oil circuit; however, observations made on several polymerization reactors showed that this was not the cause at all. In polymerization reactors (where vacuuming and cleaning are required), once mixing stops, the seal water stops first, followed by the oil pump. When it is time to start stirring, first activate the oil station; once operation is stable, then add seal water. However, in some polymerization reactors, seal water clearly seeps into the oil station. The pressure at the fuel station is 1.7 MPa, and the pressure of the mechanical seal water is 1.2 MPa.

The mechanical seal for the agitator in the polymerization reactor consists of both an oil seal and a water seal, which operate simultaneously.
I’ve encountered situations where the sealing O-ring broke; check the mechanical seal for repairs! If time goes on, more and more water will enter the oil circuit of the subsequent mechanical seal, and its lubricating and cooling functions will gradually deteriorate!
The key is that the pressure of the water seal is lower than the oil pressure of the oil seal; moreover, the oil pump is turned on first before starting the mixer, and then the water seal is activated, so it should not happen that water gets into the oil pump
