Our factory has a tube section with an inner diameter of 4000 mm, a thickness of 110 mm, and a length of 1000 mm. It is made of CrMo steel, and its inner wall has been clad with 309L+316L materials. Significant deformation occurs after cladding, especially in terms of out-of-roundness. Is it possible to use a rolling machine to correct this shape? Or heat the outer wall with a flame and pour cold water to round it out? Are there any other ways to make it round? What impact will it have if the sheet is rounded on a plate rolling machine?
Heating is not allowed; pouring cold water is absolutely prohibited
Wasn’t there any internal framework for support before welding? Who came up with such a complicated idea of using round shapes to prevent water from splashing? That’s not allowed. Stress deformation has already occurred; there are problems with the welding process. Please have your technical department address this issue
Is it feasible to just heat and cool it without pouring water?
Can light heating and cooling solve the problem of excessive deformation?
This post was last edited by svenzheng on 2016-8-30 08:40. Do you carry out heat treatment? If it doesn’t work, you shouldn’t use a sledgehammer after heating; as a last resort, use a jack to push it back after heating to apply even pressure.
It is feasible to use a rolling machine on campus; however, the method of heating the outer surface and then spraying water for correction must not be used. Firstly, this affects the properties of the CrMo steel material, and secondly, it impacts the corrosion resistance of the surfacing layer.
Heat it up and round it at 300 degrees – is that possible?
Both surfacing and composite plates have their advantages and disadvantages; even composite plates can exhibit out-of-roundness.
This probably has little to do with temperature. Heating results in different expansion coefficients.
