Why is the 2500 M3 acetylene gas tank acidic? :)
Is sodium hypochlorite used for cleaning acetylene? If so, does the defective sodium solution go to the dehydrating tower or somewhere else?
The purification system uses vinyl chloride pipes, and the water in the safety water seal is also acidic.
Calcium carbide contains impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus, and the acetylene gas produced as a result of the reaction contains acidic gases such as hydrogen sulfide; when these gases dissolve in water, they naturally make the water acidic.
We are also acidic; we can add some base or change the water
This is mainly caused by hyposodium converting the hydrogen sulfide and phosphorus oxides carried in the acetylene gas into sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid; it seems that clean wastewater should be added to the generator. The safety water seal issue can be resolved by adding alkali or changing the water.
It is mainly caused by improper reuse of defective sodium, so a thorough investigation is needed; otherwise, it should not be acidic.
