Currently, there are an increasing number of female workers from rural areas in our country; they make tremendous contributions to **, to their employers, and to their families. Due to the special physiological characteristics of women, the Special Provisions on the Labor Protection of Female Workers specify certain types of work that female workers are not allowed to undertake. These include: I. Types of work prohibited for female workers: (1) Work in underground mines ; (II) Tasks with a physical labor intensity of level 4 as specified in the standards for classifying physical labor intensity ; (III) Tasks involving lifting a load more than 20 kilograms 6 times or more per hour, or intermittent loading with a load of more than 25 kilograms each time. II. Types of work that female employees are prohibited from performing during their menstrual period: (1) Cold-water work of Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4 as specified in the classification standards for cold-water work ; (II) Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 low-temperature operations as specified in the classification standards for low-temperature operations ; (III) Tasks with a physical labor intensity of level 3 or level 4 as specified in the classification standards for physical labor intensity ; (IV) Level 3 and Level 4 high-altitude work as specified in the classification standards for high-altitude work. III. Types of work that female employees are prohibited from performing during pregnancy: (1) Tasks carried out in work environments where the concentrations of toxic substances such as lead and its compounds, mercury and its compounds, benzene, cadmium, beryllium, arsenic, cyanides, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon disulfide, chlorine, caprolactam, chloroprene, vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide, aniline, and formaldehyde exceed the **occupational health standards** ; (II) Jobs involving the production of anticancer drugs and diethylstilbestrol, as well as exposure to ** agent gases and similar substances ; (III) Handling of radioactive materials from unsealed sources, and emergency response to nuclear and radiological accidents ; (IV) High-altitude work as specified in the classification standards for high-altitude work ; (5) Cold-water work as specified in the classification standards for cold-water work ; (VI) Low-temperature work as specified in the classification standards for low-temperature work ; (7) Tasks of Level 3 and Level 4 specified in the classification standards for high-temperature work ; (8) Operations of Level 3 and Level 4 specified in the classification standards for noisy operations ; (IX) Tasks with a physical labor intensity of Grade 3 or Grade 4 as specified in the grading standards for physical labor intensity ; (10) Work in enclosed spaces or high-pressure chambers, or diving operations, work involving intense vibrations, or work that requires frequent bending, climbing, or squatting. IV. Types of work that female employees are prohibited from performing during the lactation period: (1) Items 1, 3, and 9 of the list of tasks prohibited during pregnancy ; (II) Jobs in which the concentrations of toxic substances such as manganese, fluorine, bromine, methanol, organophosphorus compounds, and organochlorine compounds in the air of the workplace exceed the **occupational health standards. Therefore, if an employer asks female workers to perform the above tasks, they should know how to say no and must not take the risk of harming their health by working.
8 years ago, at a workplace, the construction team was from a leading construction company in China; it consisted of some women from the Northeast who were excellent welders. They were just as capable of handling heavy and tough tasks as men, and I truly admire them.
