Are phosphating treatment and blueing treatment the same thing? How exactly is it done? What is the purpose?
Phosphating is a commonly used pretreatment technique; in principle, it falls under chemical conversion coating treatment. It is primarily applied to the phosphating of steel surfaces, but it can also be used for non-ferrous metal parts such as aluminum and zinc. Blueing is a material protection technique in which steel is heated in air or immersed directly in a concentrated oxidizing solution to form an extremely thin oxide film on its surface; it is also known as blackening.
Phosphating is done to improve the adhesion strength of the paint film, while bluing (blackening) serves to prevent rusting and enhance aesthetics
