Question: Does the eternal flame of the torch need to stay on continuously, or is it sufficient to keep it on part of the time? After reviewing the requirements specified in SH3009-2013 and GB50160, no specific requirements are mentioned. Personally, I believe that based on the definition of a constant-light source, it should remain on all the time; however, companies shut them down in order to maximize profits. I would appreciate it if anyone could provide some practical guidance documents on this matter

When it is usually turned off, an electric ignition (automatic ignition) test should be conducted once a week. Possible reasons for it being always on: either there is continuous discharge of odorous material from the flare (acid gas pipeline), or the automatic ignition system is not functioning properly.
I would like to ask whether shutting it down constitutes an illegal act. At present, safety supervision agencies at all levels are carrying out law enforcement inspections; if there is an illegal element involved, penalties will be imposed, and responsibility will be pursued in the event of an accident.
No specification was found. Personally, I think the perpetual lamps should not be turned off completely. To assess the risk, try turning off half of them to save gas.
Ours has an automatic ignition function; it will ignite automatically when gas is released. I haven’t heard that the Work Safety Supervision Bureau is in charge of this.
A perpetual light, as the name suggests, is one that remains lit continuously; only when it’s always on can it be safe!

The specification does not set any limits; the Torch Operation Manual can be referred to. Typically, each torch has 3 perpetual lights, and it is possible to choose to turn them all on or just one, depending on the gas emission from the torch. But in the case of starting up, it is necessary to keep the ground automatic ignition gas in a standby state.
