Our company has a project that requires metering pumps to be used on offshore platforms. The client demands a marine product certificate, but the manufacturer says it is difficult to obtain a CCS marine product certificate; instead, it suggests obtaining a CCS-approved third-party inspection certificate. Those involved in CCS inspections also recommend getting such a third-party inspection certificate issued by CCS. I’m a bit confused now – what is the difference between a marine product certificate and a third-party inspection certificate? Under what circumstances is a marine product certificate required, and under what circumstances is a third-party inspection certificate needed? Please ask the experts for help!
I’m in a hurry! Gentlemen! Help!
It should be the difference between CCS type approval and plant approval, and the CCS product inspection certificate. Typical type approval and factory approval are systematic approvals for products manufactured by a factory. On this basis, a batch inspection carried out on a specific ship at a particular shipyard (with the ship’s number provided) is referred to as a product inspection certificate (applicable only to that batch of goods). The certificate issued by the China Classification Society has an authoritative nature and serves an arbitration function, whereas a product certificate is merely an inspection report for the product.
Thank you to the expert on floor 4! However, according to the manufacturers we’ve contacted and CCS personnel, it seems that the CCS marine product certificate holds higher status than the CCS inspection certificate; so which certificate should be chosen? The Code for Classification of Mobile Offshore Units specifies which products require a Marine Product Certificate Type C, but metering pumps are not included among them. The metering pump seems to fall under the equipment specified in the \"Oil and Gas Treatment System Specifications\", but according to these specifications, a CA certificate is required. Is this CA certificate a marine product certificate or a CCS inspection certificate?
In other words, I’m not sure now whether the CA certificate is a marine product certificate or a third-party inspection certificate from CCS
