I have an idea; I would appreciate some guidance from those who are more experienced. Since DCS operators mainly focus on operating and monitoring process parameters, they tend to be somewhat negligent regarding the operational status of the equipment and related data. So my idea is: the operating status and data of some key equipment in the company can be accessed by the company’s equipment technicians via the DCS system over the network, so that any issues can be addressed promptly :):)

For ordinary projects, the site is equipped with OPC licenses such as LHS2411; through the OPC interface, communication can be established with third-party SCADAs, and then the equipment operators can view the data on your company’s local network. But then again, can a equipment operator monitor things 24/7 just like in the manufacturing process? By doing this, it seems like you’re creating trouble for yourself; it’s a bit like treating the symptoms rather than the root cause.
Thank you for your reply. We don’t have 24/7 monitoring; it’s just that the managers pay close attention to the key equipment, and they ask the equipment technicians to keep an eye on their operating status whenever they have time
Well, if the control station has sufficient resources, it can be connected to a remote location via fiber optic cable. Operation permissions are not enabled.

The air compressor units in our company are from a well-known domestic brand; a system for status diagnosis and analysis, the Skyworth S8000, was provided as part of the setup. This system collects data from the BENTLEY3500 system and transmits the diagnostic data and status parameters via the network to the management office and the compressor manufacturer. During the first year after the system was put into use, the compressor manufacturer sent an analysis report for each unit to our company on a monthly basis. When this system was developed, the management kept pressing for its implementation, and all the vice presidents’ offices adopted this platform. To this day, I guess not a single person still remembers what the website address is. . . . . . And no one has ever brought up anything related to this system again; P ; If you suggest using this system, I guess your maintenance staff will scold you to death.

This issue isn’t actually complicated. In the situations I’ve encountered, device operation data such as temperature, pressure, vibration, displacement, and rotational speed is either connected directly to the DCS via wired connections or transmitted through communication channels; this data is displayed on the control interface. Process engineers also need to know these parameters, as they are the first to be informed in case of any alarms. This allows them to determine whether the alarm is caused by process-related issues or by problems with the equipment or electrical systems, and then they can notify the appropriate personnel to handle it, which ensures a high level of responsiveness. Equipment operators can also view these parameters; generally, there are operation stations with only viewing rights, where they can check trends and alerts.
