I would like to ask fellow sea enthusiasts: how should one choose gaskets for flanges on fluorinated plastic pipes? According to the specifications, PTFE-coated gaskets should be used, but in actual on-site installation it was found that such gaskets are very thin and prone to breaking. The method used for on-site installation is to employ metal wound gaskets with polytetrafluoroethylene wrapped around them manually; however, this approach has no established standards and requires a lot of labor. How does everyone do it?

I just checked – the gasket mentioned by the original poster is a composite gasket that uses soft gaskets such as asbestos rubber, asbestos-free boards, rubber, or graphite-reinforced sheets as the core, with a thin polytetrafluoroethylene sheet covering the outside. We haven’t used this type of gasket here, but during recent maintenance work, 200 meters of PTFE-lined pipes were installed, using PTFE gaskets with a thickness of 3 mm, and everything worked fine
