If the water seal in the vacuum leg is damaged, the following phenomena will occur: the liquid level in the top-vacuum water seal tank drops to such an extent that no water seal can be formed; the vacuum level at the top of the tower decreases rapidly; the liquid level in the tower rises quickly from bottom to top until the bottom of the tower is filled with liquid; the temperature in the tower decreases from top to bottom; the liquid levels in the top-vacuum and first-stage vacuum sections drop rapidly until the pumps become empty. In the absence of a vacuum seal, air can easily flow back into the tower, leading to a flash explosion or an actual explosion.
There is no impact while vacuuming is in progress; once vacuuming stops, air will enter the vacuum system through the atmospheric leg, which not only reduces the level of vacuum but also allows oxygen to enter the high-temperature oil and gas environment, posing a risk of combustion and explosion.
That would mean disrupting the vacuum. In a normal production process, such an occurrence is very dangerous as it can lead to a flash explosion
