As in the title, Q41F-16P and Q41F-16R are both ball valves, flange connection, PN16, stainless steel, but one is P and the other is R. From the query, it is found that P is chromium nickel titanium steel and R is chromium nickel molybdenum titanium steel. What is the difference between P and R? Can they be considered to be indistinguishable and used interchangeably in general work?

It depends on the corrosion of the two materials by the medium under operating conditions. The corrosion resistance of the two materials is different.
