Gentlemen, I’m facing a problem related to the calculation of circulating water flow rate and would like some advice. Could you please help me out? When calculating the total amount of circulating water, many design documents have been lost. It is necessary to calculate the total amount of circulating water used on site. There are several coolers for which only the heat exchange area is known, with no other parameters available. Can the amount of circulating water used be calculated? With only the heat exchange area and a circulating water pressure difference of about 0.1 MPa, how is it possible to determine without estimation how many tons of circulating water are required? There are no other data available; now it’s necessary to calculate the total amount of circulating water used. Only the statistics for these few coolers can’t be calculated. I want to estimate a rough figure.
Generally speaking: if the design temperature difference for the return water of the circulating water in all heat exchangers of a device is the same, then for heat exchangers of the same type, their heat exchange area is proportional to the amount of circulating water. For these heat exchangers for which data is unavailable, the design circulating water volume of heat exchangers of the same type and with a similar heat exchange area for which design data is available was identified, and then calculated on a proportional basis for each one. It is verified using the ratio of the total heat transfer area of all heat exchangers in the available data to the total circulating water volume.
