The boiler was working fine in the previous years, but this year it produces a lot of smoke when it’s turned on. Normally, there is only a little smoke that disappears after a while; now however, there’s a lot of smoke, and it doesn’t stop for some time

According to the original poster’s description, it means that the boiler is under positive pressure; smoking becomes more severe if the furnace isn’t properly sealed. The common causes are as follows: 1. Leakage in the furnace tubes, which increases the flow of flue gas and exceeds the capacity of the exhaust fan. Additionally, leaks in the heat exchange surfaces at the rear of the furnace can lead to ash accumulation, increasing the resistance to flue gas flow and thus causing smoking. 2. Poor boiler combustion is manifested by unstable coal flow supply, an improper air-coal ratio, and incorrect control of negative pressure in the furnace, resulting in smoke emission. 3. If the furnace body and flue are not properly sealed, the more the air leakage occurs near the exhaust fan, the more severe the smoking from the furnace body will be.
