That winter, right after I graduated and started working, it was extremely cold; the wind was biting, so cold that you wanted to cover your entire body. My unfortunate colleague and I, who are just as unlucky, received a call asking us to measure the length of the newly installed saltwater pipes, requiring precise figures (as this is relevant to subsequent insulation work and the quotes from the sandblasting team). The two of us were outside, and we didn’t have any measuring tools on hand (the tools were in another factory site), so I kept worrying as I walked around. However, after a short while, a colleague reported a fairly accurate figure to the manager (which was later verified to have very little error), and the manager asked, \"Did you finish measuring so quickly?\" ”My colleague replied, “I measured it with a bicycle; one lap is exactly 2 meters. There are marks on the tire, and I walked in a straight line along the road while counting the laps, which allowed me to determine the distance.” ”This matter had a huge impact on me; something that others can do easily left me completely at a loss. So, don’t only focus on when others enjoy glory; while you’re still confused and unsure of what’s going on, they have already quietly completed their work.
There’s also the method of taking steps; experienced craftsmen take one step per meter, resulting in minimal errors^_^
That makes sense. The thinking is clear, with a distinct focus.
I thought you two were there measuring heights, with one person lying down and the other connecting something. ;P
In the absence of any tools, height, as a constant measurement method, can also be an option, though adjustments must be made for differences between standing and lying positions.
Actually, many tools can be borrowed: 200 for a bunch, 100 for the width, and 600 per step
In fact, distance measurement is also possible: measure the relative height when a person is 1 meter away, then measure it again at 10 meters, and finally stand at the end of the pipe. . .
It’s a good approach; it doesn’t matter if there are significant errors in the on-site retesting. I can usually figure it out just by taking a look, and I can use a reference object for that purpose.
The bicycle wheels still aren’t accurate. ;P
