There is now a device located 1.5 km away from the control room, along with a dozen or so other points. To transmit signals to the control room, what method should be used? Fiber optics seem too expensive; while the cost of laying fibers itself isn’t the biggest issue, the expenses associated with digging trenches and installing supports are extremely high.
It depends on the importance of the device; if it’s not very important, it’s just ordinary monitoring with simple control, and wireless signal transmission such as via radio could be considered. Advantages

As required by production safety, dig ditches where necessary and install supports where required. How should the potential risk losses resulting from safety hazards caused by caring too much about such costs be calculated?
With so few points and such a long distance, they probably aren’t important points. Use 485 communication with a repeater, or wireless transmission is also an option.
The steel pipes can be laid either buried in the ground or elevated; by thickening the cable cores, the voltage drop and impedance are kept within acceptable limits!

These signals should be classified; for those involved in control, alarm, and interlocking functions, reliable hardwired transmission is preferred for signal transfer. For some surveillance signal recordings, a data acquisition unit can be added on-site for transmission via digital communication, which helps to reduce wiring needs. For some signals that never receive attention over the course of time, a data acquisition and recording unit can be installed on-site, and someone can be sent regularly to export the data using a memory card.
