I’m not very familiar with materials; could someone give me a simple explanation?
Was it not cut properly, or is the material too brittle?
It would be best to have images or detailed information on the materials used. Also, it’s important to know whether the pipes break after cutting, after welding, or during bending. Based on the poster’s description, I suspect the problem lies with the quality of the stainless steel material itself – high carbon and manganese content as well as high hardness likely contribute to the brittleness of the material. Additionally, its tensile strength, a key mechanical property, is probably low. In my opinion, there are issues with the quality of these stainless steel pipes; the levels of nickel, chromium, manganese, and carbon are likely not within the acceptable range. It would be advisable to conduct tests, including those related to mechanical properties
It depends on the properties of the material; for some alloy steels, surface inspection is required after cutting before welding can be carried out. As for materials resistant to sulfur and hydrogen, they can only be cut cold
It is a material issue; cracking usually results from a high carbon content in the base metal, as well as excessive amounts of sulfur and phosphorus impurities.
It’s probably because the steel pipe is too hard, with a high carbon content, that’s causing this issue
