What causes high saltwater hardness?
By high hardness, you probably mean a high content of calcium and magnesium ions. There are two possible sources for this issue: either the original salt contains a high level of calcium and magnesium ions, or the water used in the salt processing process has high hardness. Additionally, test the recycled water again; it’s possible that the level of calcium and magnesium ions in it is high, but not necessarily.
The hardness of the sodium sulfite solution, as determined by laboratory analysis yesterday, was 7.6; pure water basically has no such issue! (We use pure water to prepare sodium sulfite.) However, the hardness of the distilled water is 1.7. Is there any relationship between hardness and sodium sulfite?
