The damage to the heat exchanger is relatively minor; since it is also a low-temperature device, you should focus on the operation of the exhaust gas scrubber, with the exhaust gas being routed directly to the bypass.

The regenerated nitrogen should be switched in only after it meets the required standards; however, during this period the temperature in the exhaust gas scrubber drops below 0°C. In such cases, either low-pressure steam is introduced or a bypass around the scrubber is used (this results in increased methanol consumption and elevated total sulfur levels in the exhaust gases)

Our process here has a bypass, but is there still a main valve at the tower outlet? Issues with control?
