Dear experts, I recently encountered a situation at work where I needed to use a steam generator. During the equipment selection phase, I calculated the LTMD based on the usual temperature difference between hot and cold streams, estimated the heat transfer coefficient, and then used the formula for calculating the heat exchanger area. However, the result turned out to be quite different from what the manufacturer had calculated The most important thing is that the sizes vary considerably among different manufacturers, yet all of them claim to be able to meet my requirements. Do anyone have any good methods?

The rational approach is to find a reliable thermal designer to handle the design work, and then engage a manufacturer to carry out the mechanical design and manufacturing – it’s better not to take risks. Of course, you can ask me to design it. Don’t try to cut corners; P
Well, the proposals I consulted were also quotes and calculations provided by manufacturers such as Amaxi, Chuan Te, and Te Gao. It’s definitely due to the different technical levels of these companies; I just didn’t expect the difference to be so large :)

The steam generator is closely related to the pipes used; the surfaces of the pipes on the steam side vary from one manufacturer to another – some are coated, while others have low fins. I recommend using plain pipes; the initial cost is higher, but it saves trouble in the long run. . I'm so tired
Considering price, as well as performance and lifespan
