I have just entered the chemical industry and I would like to ask for some advice. Our company needs to design an automatic control system for a project, with redundant configuration required for critical control points. So, in the instrument list, does redundant configuration mean that the value of important measurement points doubles? For example, if a certain temperature measurement is important and one AI sensor is sufficient for it, then would redundant configuration require 2 AI sensors? If not, how is it reflected in the instrument list? Thank you.
For the system, redundant IO cards refer to two cards, with the same AI detection point corresponding to two AI channels. However, when you are doing design, use AIN for non-redundant points and AINR for redundant points – the DCS system manufacturers will understand this.
Redundancy does not mean adding AI points, but rather adding AI cards. When preparing the DCS technical specifications, it’s sufficient to indicate which components are redundant; the DCS manufacturer will then determine the number of cards required. If I were the owner, I would create the specification sheet myself, send it to the DCS manufacturer to carry out the configuration, and then check the number of cards myself: lol
In control systems, IO redundancy is achieved through symmetric doubling of channels, while control point redundancy should be based on control point measurement/transmission (control?) ) Isotopic doubling of the device.
