I have never carried out liquid-liquid extraction, and I would like to ask about its control scheme. Just as oil enters from below and exits from above, flow control is required for both types of material. But once coming out of the extraction tower, it’s definitely not possible to control both streams. I would like to ask if it is the case that flow control is used for discharging material from the bottom of the tower, pressure control is used at the top of the tower, and the liquid level at the top serves as a parameter to control the amount of material discharged from the bottom of the tower. I’m not sure if my idea is right And there won’t be an interface at the bottom of the tower, right?

We don’t use towers; instead, we use reaction vessels for mixing. I’ve never worked with towers before. After coming out, one must stay still for a while – if one keeps moving, it’s inevitable that some immiscible liquids will get mixed in
