I would like to ask everyone: for Asahi Kasei’s tanks, after operating for about 4 years, under the same current conditions, by how much should the tank voltage increase per month or per year to be considered normal?
Unit cell voltage rises by less than 40 mV per year
After 3 years of operation, the cell voltage generally stops rising, while the current efficiency decreases significantly.
Under normal circumstances, the cell voltage does not rise much, unless there is a serious problem with the cell.
The key factor is whether your power consumption can handle it; after more than 3 years of operation, the current efficiency will decline significantly
After four years of operation, a major overhaul of the unit is necessary; all ion exchange membranes, tank frame gaskets, and hose gaskets should be replaced. The sacrificial anode should also be inspected, with possible replacement as needed
The anode voltage generally rises by less than 5 mv per year, while the cathode voltage increases by less than 20 mv per year. The increase in cell voltage depends mainly on operating conditions; the quality of the brine and emergency shutdowns have a significant impact
The normal range is an increase of 30–40 mv per year.
