We have designed 2 single-layer, horizontal, buried oil tanks with a capacity of 100 m3 each, intended for storing light diesel. The distance between the two tanks is 1 m; the depth of the tank foundations is 4 m, the height of the saddles is 290 mm, the diameter of the tanks is 3 m, and their length is 16.04 m. The two tanks are placed in an anti-seepage pit, with fine sand filled around them. Originally, the two tanks were to be placed separately, but the user requested that they be connected at the bottom. This is my first time dealing with this, so I was wondering if it’s possible?
It’s usable in practice. It’s probably not advisable for safety reasons – one tank can generate static electricity. Both tanks were severely damaged.

If the user has such a requirement, just add an interface at the bottom of the tank and indicate it on the overall layout as a spare port or maintenance port; whether they connect it or not is not your concern
If a buried tank is connected to a pipe below it, will it leak? Has anyone done such a thing? :)
Buried tanks should preferably not be connected in this way. Does the tank have a mechanism to prevent floating? Buried tanks suffer from the problem of floating; who can guarantee that the two tanks will float simultaneously? Additionally, this pipe will suffer severe corrosion when buried in fine sand, although anti-corrosion measures can be taken. The user's request is simply to address the issue of liquid transfer between tanks; therefore, other process flows can be employed to achieve this function of transferring liquid from one tank to another.

Why does the bottom need to be connected together?
Connect the two tanks together; the manufacturer says this makes it convenient when draining oil, as there’s no need to check the oil level gauge or worry about oil overflow due to the tanks being full. :L
What if an accident occurs and needs to be dealt with, given the connection from the bottom? If necessary, the upper part needs to be handled well
I installed tees at the outlet of the oil discharge pump and the inlet of the oil supply pump; this way, I can discharge oil from and draw oil into two tanks simultaneously. Is that sufficient? :Lol, there’s no need to worry about backflow either.
