The China National Environmental Monitoring Center, in conjunction with relevant experts, has analyzed and predicted that from December 2nd to 4th, severe or even more serious pollution could occur in the central and southern parts of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, most of Shanxi Province, western Shandong Province, and northern Henan Province. The cities affected will include Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, Langfang, Baoding, Xingtai, Handan, Hengshui, Taiyuan, Linfen, Dezhou, Anyang, Hebi, Xinxiang, Zhengzhou, Jiaozuo, and other cities. On the night of the 4th, as cold air moved from north to south, the severe pollution gradually diminished. The Ministry of Environmental Protection has sent warnings regarding severe air pollution to the people of six provinces (municipalities), including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, and Henan, urging them to issue warnings at the appropriate levels based on regional forecast results and to take decisive action in response.
Shijiazhuang has activated a level-1 emergency response.
