I don’t understand what is meant by the requirement in the standards that no trace leakage is allowed. My current understanding is that for explosive materials, even minor leaks are not allowed, so leak tests must be conducted.
Leak tests are also required for extremely highly hazardous media.
I have a question: is the temperature for the leak test 5 degrees higher than the design temperature?
If a container holding explosive materials is placed outdoors in a well-ventilated area, a minor leak should not cause an explosion, right? Can’t we skip the airtightness test at this point? The standard phrase “no trace leakage allowed” is more precise. Everyone's opinions are for reference only.
Personally, I don’t think it should be understood that way. The standard states that minor leaks are not allowed in the design; I understand this to mean that the design takes this issue into consideration. If the design determines that, although the medium is flammable and explosive, minor leaks pose little risk under the operating conditions specified, then it is not required to conduct leak tests according to the design drawings, and I believe this still meets the regulatory requirements.
I’ve never heard of a requirement that the test temperature be 5 degrees higher than the design temperature. The withstand voltage test has specified methods for determining the test pressure, which are related to the ambient temperature and the design temperature. There is a requirement for a minimum temperature.
