People often think: Isn’t safety just about being more careful? They’re all things that are done regularly; what could possibly go wrong if you’re careful? But what I want to tell everyone is: harm often occurs when people are not paying attention. I started working in July 2014, and after completing the third level of training, I went to the project site to carry out construction work. Being on the ground firsthand, the biggest realization is the need to always be responsible for oneself and one’s family. Before entering the site, we are required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment; safety shoes and helmets must be worn correctly. Every girl has a love for beauty, and she inwardly resists wearing bulky and heavy safety shoes; sometimes she wears her own lighter shoes to work. But an incident that happened last summer completely changed my view on safety shoes. At that time, I was responsible for unpacking and inspecting the reactor internals together with the owner and the supply department. There were many reactor internals, with boxes stacked on top of each other; after opening the boxes at the top, they had to be moved aside in order to access the boxes below for inspection. While checking the contents of the box at the bottom, I suddenly stepped on a nail that was 5 centimeters long. Fortunately, I was wearing safety shoes at the time, so my foot wasn’t injured; still, I feel uneasy thinking about it now. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with safety shoes; whether I’m going to the warehouse or the work site, I make sure to wear them, because there are many dangers at the work site that we might not notice. Now, every time I talk to new employees, I tell them about this. It constantly reminds me that there are no trivial matters when it comes to safe production; every task must be carried out thoroughly at work. Otherwise, a single oversight can lead to an accident.
