Currently, the differential pressure gauge of the orifice flow meter in the pipeline is set at 40 Kpa, and the range of the secondary meter is 10 t/h. Now the steam volume is high, with a flow rate of around 22–23 t/h; the flow meter is unable to measure this value. What should be done? Is it necessary to replace the orifice plate? ?
New parameters must be provided to the manufacturer, who will then recalculate and remachine the orifice plate...
Check if the orifice plate is clogged; if it is, the pressure difference decreases, and consequently the flow rate is reduced
Step 1: First, check the detection system. The system inspection includes verifying whether there are any blockages or leaks in the positive and negative pressure chambers, performing a check of the dynamic zero point, and assessing whether there are any issues with the differential pressure transmitter; it is also advisable to inspect the drain pipes. If there are any problems, resolve them promptly. Step 2: If the entire testing system passes the inspection without any issues, then it is due to incorrect design parameters for the orifice plate; in such cases, the data needs to be recalculated and the orifice plate must be manufactured anew. Of course, if the steam load varies significantly and exceeds the measurable range of orifice plates, it is recommended to use flow meters with a wide range ratio, such as multi-parameter vortex street mass flow meters or Spillark’s linear differential pressure flow meters.
Recalculate to determine what the differential pressure corresponding to 22 is. After that, compare the result with the existing calculation sheets, or provide it to the manufacturer to determine whether the orifice plate can still be used and whether the transmitter can still be used; if they can be used, then continue using them, and if not, replace them
