The heavy alkali workshop uses the ammonia-alkali process to produce soda ash, which involves processes such as distillation, absorption, compression, and carbonation. Therefore, the heavy alkali workshop also constitutes a high-risk working environment; in such environments, the provision and management of safety equipment are crucial to ensuring the safety of the workers. I summarized a few points. I. Usage Instructions 1. The eyewash station in the caustic alkali workshop can be used for emergency rinsing of the eyes and face. Before use, remove the dust cover from the eye wash nozzle; thereafter, it can be used by simply pushing the push valve with your hand. After use, reset the push valve and put the dust cover back in place. 2. The shower in the heavy alkali workshop is used for full-body rinsing. The user stands under the shower head; by gently pulling the pull-cord switch, the water can be turned on. To turn the water off, simply pull up the valve handle. II. Usage Management 1. To ensure that the eye wash stations can be used properly at any time in the caustic soda workshop, the management department should assign dedicated personnel to regularly test the emergency eye wash stations and emergency shower systems there; these devices should be activated at least once a week for no less than 10 seconds. Any faults detected should be repaired promptly. 2. The dust cover for the eye wash nozzle should always remain on the nozzle when it is not in use, to ensure that the water outlet of the eye wash device is not contaminated by chemicals or dust. 3. Emergency eye washers are specialized emergency safety equipment, and no individual shall use them for purposes such as washing hands or face. 4. Workers in the caustic soda workshop should be regularly trained on the use and maintenance of eye wash stations. III. Precautions 1. The emergency eye wash stations and emergency shower systems in the strong alkali workshop are only temporary emergency devices and cannot serve as a substitute for proper medical treatment; therefore, those who are injured must go to the nearest hospital for treatment as soon as possible after rinsing. 2. If the installation location is in a cold region, measures should be taken to prevent pipe freezing in winter, or anti-freezing eye washers should be provided. 3. Regularly check the eye wash nozzles; replace them promptly if there is a blockage in the water flow. The main replacement is the filter in the eye washer, and the price will be very low. IV. Selection of eye washers: 1. Use 304 stainless steel, preferably industrial-grade 304 stainless steel. 2. In locations where corrosion is severe, 304 stainless steel combined with an ABS anti-corrosion coating can be used to extend the product’s service life. 3. It is recommended to use 304 stainless steel for eye wash nozzles; ABS plastic should not be used. 4. In cold regions, it is recommended to use eye washers with anti-freezing or explosion-proof electric heating functions. 5. It is recommended to install an eye wash indicator sign when setting up the eye washer.
Mainly, the water pipes are not made of stainless steel, which makes it easy for rust to form
If there is water rust in the connected water inlet pipe, a filter can be added to the eyewash station. It is specifically used in areas or regions with water source problems. For long-term use, only the filter element needs to be replaced.
